Getting around

  • Montrose sits on Highway 3B on a flat just east of Trail. Trail (work, hospital, shopping) is ~11 min west — close enough that some residents cycle in. Fruitvale (grocery, elementary school) is ~5 min east; the high school (J.L. Crowe) is in Trail.
  • Castlegar’s airport is ~40 min; Trail Regional Airport (YZZ, Pacific Coastal) is closer. Low elevation (~500 m) means mild winters and easy driving.

Recreation

  • Named local trails right at the village — the Montrose Antenna Trail Loop (wide valley views, snow-free early in spring) and the easier Horse Rodeo Trail. Montrose Park has a skate/all-wheel park, a ball field, a sports court, a playground and a community garden.
  • RED Mountain Resort (Rossland) is ~20–25 min for downhill; Champion Lakes Provincial Park (a short drive) adds swimming, paddling and cross-country skiing; the Trail Aquatic Centre is ~11 min.
